Tata Altroz Emerges as Most Affordable Hatchback with Sunroof, Introduces Additional Features

Tata Motors has recently unveiled an exciting addition to its Altroz lineup by equipping the hatchback with a sunroof across various variants. The introduction of this feature makes the Altroz the second hatchback in its segment, after the Hyundai i20, to offer a sunroof. What sets the Altroz apart, however, is its remarkable affordability, with prices starting from just Rs 7.90 lakh (ex-showroom) for the sunroof-equipped variants, making it the most accessible car in the country with this feature.

Sunroof on the Altroz is available from the XM+ Trim: The sunroof feature is now available on the Tata Altroz from the mid-spec XM+ trim onwards. This inclusion encompasses a total of 16 variants across the Altroz lineup, including petrol, turbo-petrol, diesel, and CNG powertrain options. Opting for the sunroof-equipped variants will increase the price by up to Rs 45,000 compared to the non-sunroof versions. Furthermore, even the Dark edition of the Altroz now comes with a sunroof.
Wide Range of Powertrain Options: The Altroz boasts an impressive selection of powertrain options, which remains unchanged. Customers can select from the 86hp, 1.2-litre inherently aspirated petrol engine, the 110hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, and the 90hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine. All variants arrive with a definitive 5-speed manual gearbox, except for the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which offers the option of a 6-speed DCT automatic transmission.

Additional Features for CNG Variants: In addition to the sunroof, Tata Motors has introduced new features for the Altroz CNG variants. Wireless charging, an air purifier, and leatherette upholstery for the seats are now available across all powertrain options. However, these features are limited to the top-spec XZ+(S) and XZ+O(S) trims.
Tata Altroz Price Comparison with Competitors: With prices ranging from Rs 6.60 lakh to Rs 10.74 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Tata Altroz competes directly against popular hatchbacks like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, and Toyota Glanza in the Indian market.

Looking Ahead: While the Altroz currently holds the title of the most affordable hatchback with a sunroof, its reign may be short-lived. Hyundai's upcoming Exter micro-SUV, set to release in the near future, will also feature a single-pane sunroof in its higher trims. It remains to be seen how the Exter will fare against the Altroz, given its distinct positioning in the market.

With its wide range of powertrain options, affordability, and now the addition of sought-after features like a sunroof, Tata Altroz presents an attractive proposition to Indian car buyers seeking style, performance, and value for money.
