Skoda plans to launch six all-electric vehicles by 2026
Skoda plans to launch six EVs by 2026, including an entry-level SUV called Elroq, two SUVs, a Wagon, and an MPV. The Enyaq lineup will also receive an update, while the automaker aims to enter the affordable small EV market by 2025. Skoda will continue to produce PHEVs and efficient ICEs.
By 2026, Skoda plans to release as many as six all-electric vehicles, according to their mega-EV roll-out plan. Klaus Zellmer, the CEO of Skoda Auto worldwide, also stated that the company intends to enter the affordable global small EV market by 2025 with a target price of €25,000 (roughly Rs 22.5 lakh).
The Enyaq EV line-up, which will be updated in the upcoming ICE-powered new Kodiaq and Superb that will be unveiled later this year, consists of two SUVs, a Waggon, and an MPV.
What is the plan for Skoda's electrification strategy?
Four brand-new electric vehicles were unveiled by the company on Tuesday. They range in size from a small SUV measuring 4.1 metres to a compact SUV, a Combi Waggon, and an MPV with a length of 4.9 metres.
Skoda said it will be offering a full range of all-electric models, including the "Small" EV in the small SUV segment, the new Elroq SUV, which will be an electric replacement for the Karoq, a roomy "Combi" estate, probably based on the Octavia, and a seven-seater SUV "Space," when it announced the Let's Explore plan at its headquarters in Mlada Boleslav.
In addition to these four automobiles, the Enyaq family will receive an update by 2025, according to Skoda Auto. According to the automaker, this lineup of SUVs will feature the new Modern Solid design language. However, it reaffirmed that plug-in hybrid powertrains and modern, highly efficient internal combustion engines will continue to be significant mainstays during the transformation phase.
The newest iterations of the Superb and Kodiaq, the Octavia, Kamiq, and Scala, as well as the new BEV models, are all part of what Koda claims will soon be its most diverse lineup in history. Skoda Auto is advancing towards sustainable, electric individual mobility even more quickly, according to Zellmer, with the introduction of six new all-electric models by 2026 in all market segments. We are providing the best of both worlds by combining our new and highly efficient conventional and hybrid-powered models to meet the needs of both our current and potential customers around the world during this time of transition.
Numerous Skoda EVs, ranging from "Small" to "Space"
The first upcoming BEV vehicle is anticipated for 2024 and will be a "Compact" SUV with the official name Elroq. The Elroq, which will be the all-electric successor to the Skoda Karoq, will be about 4.50 metres in length and feature a similar combination of compact dimensions, a spacious interior, and practical features. It will increase the number of models available under the Czech brand in the SUV market.
The "Small" model, a subcompact car with a starting price of about €25,000 that will make electric mobility accessible, will be the upcoming entry-level model. The vehicle will go on sale in 2025 and be manufactured at a Volkswagen Group facility in Spain. With a length of roughly 4.10 metres, it will have a similar amount of luggage space as the Scala.
The Enyaq and Enyaq Coupé will get a thorough update in 2025 and switch to the new Modern Solid design language, which was first shown off on the Vision 7S. Since 2020 (Enyaq Coupé since 2022) the Enyaq iV models, which were the first Skoda cars to be made on the Volkswagen Group's Modular Electrification Platform (MEB), have fitted as a sign of the company's new era of electric mobility.
Among the four new models, the "Combi" will be of particular importance. This roughly 4.70-meter-long model, which brings the best qualities of this incredibly well-liked and successful Skoda body style into the electric age, will be the brand's first all-electric estate car. In 2026, the "Combi" estate BEV will be unveiled.
The "Space" — the production iteration of the Vision 7S concept car — will be the largest of Skoda's upcoming BEVs. It will complete the portfolio's upper end and be about 4.90 metres long.
